We’ve developed proposals for three pilot sites as the first step in a wider, scalable restoration programme. These sites have already undergone detailed ecological surveys and restoration design, and are ready to deliver as soon as funding becomes available.
They will serve as proof-of-concept—demonstrating how targeted interventions can improve biodiversity, build natural resilience, and enhance the beauty and function of the River Annan.
Even before implementation, interest is growing. A pipeline of additional sites is already emerging, with strong potential to expand the project across dozens more locations throughout the catchment.
Each location page will include:
Brief Introduction – a quick overview of the site and its restoration aims.
Map Location – pinpointing exactly where the work is happening.
Photos – visual updates showing site conditions and progress.
Videos – engaging stories, site tours, and behind-the-scenes footage.
Technical Info & Downloads – detailed plans, ecological data, and documents.
Project Updates – short, regular articles sharing latest developments and impacts.
The project will demonstrate impact through a comprehensive and transparent Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification framework (MRV). This will meet a sponsor’s reporting needs, capture the range of benefits delivered, and be flexible to develop in response to future natural capital markets. The proposed MRV framework is summarised in the table below:
